Best Skin, Hair & Beard Trends for 2021

We’d all like to forget 2020, and there is no better way to leave the past than to embrace the future and there are some smashing new trends coming up.

If you are sporting facial hair, one of the biggest trends for the new year is beard styles to match your facial shape. For too long, beards have been bushy and shapeless, and while they are warming and comfy, there is a growing move towards trimmed beards that follow the lines of your face.

Shaped beards are neat and tidy, and look a lot more sculpted than unkempt facial hair but to make the most out of it, you have to start in the right way.  Sometimes known as a shorter-long beard (it’s typically short at the sides but can retain a bit of length on the front), shaped beards can look both relaxed and sophisticated, making them ideal for work or social events alike.

The Full moustache is making a big comeback and if you want to stand out, you need to go big!   Moustaches have always been popular but they have tended to be a little more subdued.  Now that it’s 2021, you need to be leaving subtle behind, and start thinking Tom Selleck or Kenneth Branagh as Poirot with their magnificent facial furniture.  The growth of Movember has prompted men to push their moustaches to the max and the results are impressive indeed. If you want to stand out, you’re going to have to do a fair bit of micro-trimming and grooming, but if you tend to your moustache, you’ll get admiring glances abound.

Skincare is the new normal, and there are some great products out there to help you keep your skin in good condition.  Of course, if you are going to care for your skin you need to do it as a routine and start from the ground up.  If you want 21st century skin, you have to put some effort in.

Start by cleaning – really cleaning – your skin, using a good facial scrub to really open up your pores and get deep down into them. Removing the daily grim will stop you rubbing it even deeper into your skin when you Moisturise.   Once you have cleaned, rinse your skin off with copious amounts of warm water and then apply a facial wash to get rid of any surface dirt and also clean your facial hair, if you have it.  Once again, wash this off with warm water. Now you are ready to apply a moisturiser

You need one that will soak in but doesn’t remain greasy so you can be sure that it is going to be full adsorbed.  You should pay special attention to the delicate skin around your eyes with a specialist eye cream, but be very careful when applying it.  And that, as they say, is how your treat your skin in 2021.

Get a social conscience. We know that we have to act to stop the rot, and going green is now essential for us all. Using vegan products is not only good for your hair and skin, but also helps the planet too.  Hawkins & Brimble skin care products are all vegan and are not only good for you, but are great for your social conscious as well.
